WHAT IS A PERSUASIVE ESSAY?

A persuasive essay is a paper used to convince a reader about how to do something  or belief in your idea.  persuasive writing is make in order to accept a point of view,to do this require you  investigate a topic; collect, generate, and evaluate evidence; and establish a position on the topic in a concise manner.

When planning a persuasive essay, follow these steps
1. Choose your position. Which issue or problem are you going to write about, and the solution you have for it.

2. Analyze your audience. Decide if your audience agrees with you, is neutral, or
disagrees with your position.

3. Research your topic. A persuasive essay must provide specific and convincing
evidence.

4. Structure your essay. Figure out what evidence you will include and in what order you
will present the evidence, make it from the general to the specific.

WHAT IS A THESIS STATEMENT?

The thesis statement is that sentence in the paper that contains the focus of your essay and tells your reader what the essay is going to be about.

A good  thesis will help you focus your search for information. The thesis provide that part you need to develop your essay ,if you do not have a thesis you will not focus in what you want to develop .The thesis statement is typically located in the introduction .

Example:

1. Sex education should be implemented in schools and awareness should be spread throughout the nation.

2.Giving birth to a child under compulsion doesn't make any sense when viewed from a practical angle. Considering the troubles women undergo in bearing a child against her wishes, I'm in favor of the law that abortion has been legalized.

3.There should be an absolute ban against smoking in public because secondhand smoke endangers the health of non-smokers."

WHAT ARE REASONS?

Reasons are arguments about what people should do or believe. They are going to serve as a crucial part in your essay for people believe in what you are arguing .  This reasons must be support by strong evidences( facts, examples, statistics ,anecdotes, etc.).The three main reasons will be use in the three body paragraphs.

Example:

1.The first reason why women should not have an abortion is related to basic human values.

2.The second reason why women should not abort has to do with religious values.

3.Finally, the third and most important reason why women should not abort is the related to her conscience.

WHAT ARE FACTS?

The facts will provide the most convincing  part of you essay, because you need factual evidence to the body part of the essay. it come from your reading or personal expirience.

Example:

In a national study among students who wear school uniforms, the averga students feel stifled by wearing the same thing every day.

WHAT ARE EXAMPLES?

The easiest, and usually the best, way to keep your writing specific and concrete, is to use specific examples whenever possible.  An example, of course, is simply an instance of something.

example:

for example a woman cannot take communion after having an abortion, and before taking communion again, she must do many things as a form of penitence.

WHAT IS AN  ANECDOTE?

An anecdote is a short little  story taken from a personal experience. An anecdote is always presented as based in a real incident involving actual persons, whether famous or not, usually in an identifiable place.

Example:

My sons are very tall. When my oldest boy was getting taller and taller, people always asked him, "Do you play basketball?" He would answer, "Why? Do you play miniature golf?" He stopped saying that when he decided it was a smart aleck thing to say. To this day when little kids ask him how he got so tall he says, "I always ate all my vegetables."

STRUCTURE OF AN PERSUASIVE ESSAY

A good persuasive essay must contain three main parts:

THE INTRODUCTION
THE BODY
CONCLUSION

INTRODUCTION

The introduction is an important part in the essay ,since here the author have to catch the attention of the reader ,so he could be interested and continue Reading the body and the conclusion. The introduction gives the reader his first impression of the text. It means must be state very clear.

Example:

Many women in the entire world have abortions. Women believe there are many reasons to abort such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, there is never an acceptable reason to get an abortion. Some important reasons why women should not abort have to do with human values, religious values, and values of conscience.

THE BODY

Your paper should be organized in a manner that moves from general to specific information. the body is the part going to support the thesis statement . Here you have to be a a good effort to support it with enough evidences and  include your point of view , so it could convince the reader you are telling the true. A good body must have at least three main reason

A good paragraph should contain at least the following four elements: Transition, Topic sentence, specific Evidence and analysis.

Example:

The first reason why women should not have an abortion is related to basic human values. Women need to think about their unborn babies who are not responsible for this situation. These unborn babies should have the privilege to live and grow into a normal person. Women need to be more humanitarian and less egoistic with these babies. On the other hand, the baby doesn’t know how or why he is here. It is not necessary to kill a life; there are many other solutions to resolve this problem short of abortion.

The second reason why women should not abort has to do with religious values. In almost all religions, a woman is not permitted to have an abortion. If they do, their religions will punish them. In some religions, for example, a woman cannot take communion after having an abortion, and before taking communion again, she must do many things as a form of penitence. In whatever religion, abortion is punished and for this reason, women should not abort.

Finally, the third and most important reason why women should not abort is the related to her conscience. When a woman has an abortion, she will always think about the baby she might have had. She will always think about the future that could have happened with her baby which will always remind her that she killed it. Because she has had an abortion, she will never have a good life, and her conscience will remind her of what she had done. Because a woman who has an abortion can’t forget about what she has done, these thoughts will always be with her, and the results can be calamitous.

THE CONCLUSION

Conclusions are just as important as introductions. The conclusion closes the essay and tries to close the issue. The aim is to convince the reader that your essay has covered all the most important arguments about the issue and that your main premise is the best position on the issue. You should not present any new arguments in your conclusion.
Spend some time on carefully writing the conclusion so that you give your reader a good final impression of your essay.

Example:

There are many reasons why women should not have an abortion. The truth is that women need to think about the consequences that can occur before having sexual relations. I think that the effects of an abortion can be very sad for everyone involved, both for the woman who has the abortion and for the family who lives with her.
